Materials Needed
Wash and iron sheets if desired (not required-the wrinkles will fall out after a few days). Hang rod as directed, if you opt for "blackout" or want a more dramatic effect with layered drapes, use a double curtain rod. Measure to find how long the drapes will hang and fold over curtain rod, wth the short end of the sheet facing out. Starting in middle of sheet, begin pinning tightly around curtain rod, but leaving just enough room to slide back and forth over rod. Continue pinning to either side, being sure the pin head is on the backside of drape. For a darker, "blackout" effect, use two layers of sheets...you can use a larger black sheet (doesn't have to be pretty-just hung and pinned) then use printed or different color sheets as the visible layer. Scrunch, ripple and ruffle to desired drape effect.
Example...for a 6½ by 4 ft bedroom window with "blackout"-use a double curtain rod with a full size black sheet on outer curtain rod (closest to window) and 3 twin sheets on the inner curtain rod (visible to room). To add even more dramatic effect, try using different colors and hang A-B-A or B-A-B?!?
Materials Needed
Begin by measuring window to determine how many and what size sheets you'll need. A twin size sheet will cover a 4x4 ft window adequately. Lay sheet out on a flat surface right side up with hem laying away from you. Make a 1 ft fold downwards and pin at edges and center of sheet. Drape over curtain rod and tightly pin around rod starting in middle and working towards outside edges Leave enough room to slide back and forth across rod. When complete fluff and stuff valance loop with crumpled and waded grocery bags or tissue paper. Scrunch, ripple and ruffle to desired drape effect.
